VEAP loves our volunteer corps of 3,000 people! In our Volunteer Spotlight series, we highlight their amazing work and dedication in advancing VEAP’s mission.
When did you get involved with VEAP?
I have been volunteering since August 2019. I was attracted to VEAP because of the basic necessary care it provides. No one should be hungry, especially in this country!
What volunteer roles do have with VEAP?
Food distribution is my main thing. I really enjoy “shopping” for the clients in the current model.
What keeps you volunteering with VEAP?
I love the VEAP mission. It is getting hard though, because I work full time, and my original time slot was Thursday evenings. Since there are no evenings now I am trying to come in here and there as I can.
What makes volunteering meaningful to you?
No matter how my day is going I always feel better after volunteering. If I can help someone’s day/week be better that is a success.
What do you do when you aren’t volunteering?
I work full time as a catastrophe risk analyst. I am a mom to two grown kids, and a wife to one lucky husband. 😉
What would you tell someone who is thinking about volunteering at VEAP?
Great place, great people! You will feel like you have helped someone at the end of every shift.
