POSITION TITLE: Warehouse Associate

TYPE: Full Time
SALARY: $20/hour
REPORTS TO: Distribution Manager

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Warehouse Associate will perform daily warehouse tasks to include but not limited to material handling, stocking shelves and replenishing food supplies. Additionally, they will support all other warehouse activities to include supporting volunteers through training, coaching, overseeing, and delegating daily tasks within the food program area. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support for all warehouse operations and on-site food distribution activities, including material handling, stocking food for distribution, and packing and preparing food orders for those facing transportation barriers
  • Provide back-up support for other Food & Basic Needs volunteer roles as needed
  • Support and assist with other program activities,  non-food activities, and any new initiatives
  • Support efforts to maintain the food operation within state and local facility codes and food safety standards
  • Provide assistance and coverage for other program areas, such as the intake process
  • Serve as a key contact for volunteers in the food operations area by supporting and assisting volunteers and at times delegating tasks to volunteers

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • H.S. Diploma
  • Ability to recognize and maintain highest level of confidentiality
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; strong listening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to varying demands with the ability to work well under pressure while managing multiple priorities
  • Detail-oriented, organized self-starter with excellent problem-solving and time management, skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions within the scope of authority
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse and/or low income populations, including those experiencing homelessness, unstable housing and/or mental illness
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with staff and partners, while promoting VEAP organizational values

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Current valid MN driver’s license and must continuously carry automobile insurance that meets VEAP’s minimum required coverage for liability and collision
  • Ideal candidate will utilize VEAP vehicles to support the mobile food program, home deliveries, and courier activities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, push, pull, twist, bend, reach climb ladders, talk, and hear.  Must be able to use a computer keyboard, mouse, operate pallet jack, pallet stacker, and cardboard baler. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision, ability to adjust focus.
