VEAP takes a holistic approach, knowing that when someone connects to the food pantry, there are likely other barriers to stability in their life. Looking at the whole person and their situation leads to hope for families just like Terasa and her children.
Teresa has been coming to VEAP for food for a few months. She is a single mother of two young children, works at a full-time job, often putting in many hours of overtime. This summer, her abusive partner left her suddenly, taking money, the car and most of her valuables. What Teresa didn’t know is he skipped paying rent in the month of May. Teresa paid in June and July, never realizing she would be facing eviction soon because of that missed payment.
