Volunteer Spotlight: Dan Morales

September 8, 2020

Every year, 3,500 individuals pass through our doors, providing hours of time, energy and service to advance VEAP’s mission of ending food insecurity in our community. Learn what drove them to join our team and why VEAP is close to their hearts in our Volunteer Spotlight series.

When did you get involved with VEAP?
April of 2020.

What volunteer roles do have with VEAP? What is your favorite?
I take client orders, grocery shopping, and also put groceries in their cars.

What keeps you volunteering with VEAP?
With all the bad things going on in the world today, I find that if I can do one thing every day to help someone, that’s a great thing!

What makes volunteering meaningful for you?
Helping people who are less fortunate than me, and my wife has needed help from others too.

What might someone be surprised to learn about you?
I have done 12 marathons.

What do you do when you aren’t volunteering?
Biking, walking, and spending time with my wife and son. Also working when I get called back.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about volunteering at VEAP?
It will change your life; you’ll see people in a different way.
