VEAP is pleased to announce our newest Bilingual Case Manager (Spanish/English), Beatriz Urzua-Viveros. Beatriz joined our team this September and in her position she will support people in the community as they access resources from VEAP and other local social services agencies. Prior to joining our team, Beatriz worked at Esperanza United, a domestic violence prevention non-profit, as well as Civil Society, an organization that focuses on preventing human trafficking, sexual assault and domestic violence. Most recently, she worked as a paralegal in the areas of immigration and criminal law. Beatriz has dedicated her career to creating a voice for others who have been intimidated or marginalized. She enjoys working for an organization like VEAP that lives by its values, while also caring for its staff and volunteers.
Beatriz grew up primarily in South Minneapolis and is proud to be a Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient. She is the first in her family to graduate high school, as well as college, and earned her associate degree from Minneapolis Community Technical College (MCTC). In her spare time, Beatriz loves spending time with her parents and husband’s family, as well as her two dog fur babies, Tazz and Lola. She also enjoys dancing salsa, cumbia, and bachata, as well as spending time in the great outdoors.
Welcome her to the team! [email protected]
