VEAP is pleased to announce that Emily Bingham has joined our volunteer team in a newly-created role as Volunteer Experience Coordinator!
In 2021, Emily served in a year-long AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer position at VEAP as a Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator. While here, she worked on projects for VEAP’s volunteer department, launching our summer high school program, Future Light, and working on diverse volunteer recruitment, outreach and training. Following her term of service, Emily worked briefly at Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota Refugee Services as a Volunteer Program Coordinator, where she oversaw Refugee Services’ volunteer programs, donations and outreach. Although she enjoyed her time with LSS, she is thrilled to be returning to VEAP. In her new role, Emily will work primarily in our Food & Basic Needs area, promoting a welcoming, supportive and safe environment for volunteers ensuring they have the tools, resources and information necessary to complete their assigned tasks.
Emily graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa with a B.A. in International Relations and German Studies, and a minor in Intercultural Studies and History. In her free time, she enjoys being with friends and family (and her two cats!), reading, traveling, and spending time outdoors. Emily is proud to say she got her first pair of ice skates this past winter (she’s not a Minnesota native…) and had a great time attempting to stay upright while practicing at outdoor rinks.
Welcome back Emily to VEAP!
