Katie Blood, Bilingual Housing Specialist
Katie Blood is VEAP’s Bilingual Housing Specialist, working directly with our Spanish-speaking participants who need access to housing supports. She joined our team in May of 2020 and just prior to VEAP, spent a year as an Education Volunteer with the Peace Corps in Costa Rica where she taught hundreds of students. Katie studied at the University of Minnesota: Twin Cities where she obtained a B.A. in Spanish and Communication studies. She has a passion for empowering others through human connection and mutual understanding. In her personal life, Katie enjoys most things involving music and the outdoors: hiking, attending concerts with friends, and exploring new places are her jam.

If stuck on an island with just one food of her choice, Katie says she’d pick: “Peanut Butter! It is delicious and keeps you full.”

Shari DeBlieck, Human Resources and Administration Director
Shari DeBlieck works as VEAP’s Human Resources and Administration Director and joined the VEAP team in 2000. Shari volunteered for VEAP for many years before officially joining our staff. She has served in many roles since that time, and now directs the administrative operations of VEAP, overseeing all aspects of human resources and co-creating with staff the environment they need to excel. Shari earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Augsburg University. Shari loves helping others, organizing and sharing knowledge, and as one of VEAP’s resident historians (she’s been here a long time and has seen lots of change), she want others to share in our important history and work so it continues. Shari believes there is space for others to accumulate the knowledge of VEAP’s past to bring it forward so it isn’t forgotten—oral history shared with the next generations!

If Shari were stuck on a desert island with access to just one food item: “That’s easy for me – WATERMELON. I absolutely love watermelon! It is the sweet but not too sweet flavor and the crunchy but not too crunchy texture combination. If it had the whole gamut of nutrition one needed, it would be the only food I’d eat.”

In her personal life, she enjoys cooking, drawing and painting. Her favorite thing to do though is hang out with her two cats and bunny.

Katrina’s desert island food pick: “This might sound kind of gross but I would be content with anything cheesy – Mac n’ cheese, cheese & crackers… even just a block of cheese!”
