Salary range: $21.00 to $24.50 per hour

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Food Pantry Specialist will play an instrumental role in ensuring efficiency in all areas of pantry operations. This position provides operational support to VEAP’s on-site food pantry, mobile food pantry, food pick-ups and deliveries, and warehouse operations. The Food Pantry Specialist also serves a key role in the support and training of volunteers, including promoting a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for volunteers, ensuring they have the tools, resources, and information necessary to complete their assigned tasks.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide daily operational support for the on-site food pantry and warehouse areas, including material handling, stocking food and supplies, receiving deliveries, pallet jack operation, and set-up and clean-up of work areas.
- Support and assist with food deliveries and mobile pantry services, including back-up support for volunteer delivery drivers and mobile pantry roles.
- Offer reliable back-up support for retail rescue food pick-ups, including maintaining a valid DOT medical certification.
- Welcome, orient, and provide foundational training for new volunteers.
- Serve as the first contact and support for volunteers in the on-site food pantry and warehouse by communicating priorities, answering questions, delegating tasks, and providing back-up support for all roles, including volunteer trainers.
- Welcome and facilitate volunteer group activities in the on-site food pantry and warehouse, including set-up, training, and clean-up tasks for group members.
- Maintain the food safety standards within state and local facility codes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
- Able to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Valid DOT medical certification.
- Current valid MN driver’s license and must continuously carry automobile insurance that meets VEAP’s minimum required coverage for liability and collision.
- Ability to recognize and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; strong listening skills.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to varying demands with the ability to work well under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
- Detail-oriented, organized self-starter with excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as part of a team while making decisions within the scope of authority.
Preferred:
- Bilingual in Spanish
