Did you know that VEAP Food Pantry visitors with little ones celebrating a birthday receive a birthday bag kit, complete with cake ingredients, candles, and a small gift?
The program originally started in 2002 by twelve-year-old twins Nicholas and Nichole H. who learned how VEAP families in their community struggled to feed their children. Concerned that parents would be unable to celebrate their child’s birthday, they approached VEAP with a great idea: They used their babysitting money to purchase cake mix, frosting, candles and favors. Their inspiration led to the creation of VEAP’s Birthday Bag Program, which has provided more than 23,000 birthday bags to families in need!
And we need your help! We’re in great need of small toys for our birthday bags–especially books! While doing your holiday shopping this year, will you consider purchasing a few items for VEAP’s youngest visitors? Check out our Amazon Charity List for an easy way to purchase gifts. All items will ship directly to us.

Because participants come from many backgrounds, we ask that no gifts of a religious nature be donated. All items must be new. Please feel free to drop off donations at the back of our building, under the drive-up canopy, or make a financial gift online and note your donation is designated for birthday bags in the “in honor of” section.
