Apply for rent assistance
VEAP utilizes multiple sources of funding for our rent and utility assistance program. When applying for assistance at VEAP, our social services staff will conduct a screening to determine the most appropriate ways to assist each household, which may include financial assistance, referral to the RentHelpHennepin portal, and/or other assistance.
Rental Assistance in Bloomington, Edina, Richfield & Minneapolis
If you need help paying rent in Bloomington, Edina, Richfield, or Minneapolis, VEAP may be able to help. We understand that financial emergencies can happen unexpectedly, and our team is here to support eligible renters in our service area.

How to Apply for Rental Assistance
To begin the application process:

Due to high demand, there may be a delay in returning calls. A VEAP case manager will contact you as soon as possible to complete a phone assessment and determine eligibility for financial assistance. We appreciate your patience as we work to serve everyone who reaches out.
What to Expect During the Screening Process
After you contact us:

A case manager will return your call.

We will complete a phone assessment.

We will review eligibility for rental assistance funding.

If eligible, we will discuss next steps and required documentation.
Funding for rental assistance comes from both public and private sources. VEAP does not require proof of citizenship to receive services. We will never ask for documentation regarding your immigration status. If you prefer not to receive publicly funded assistance, please let us know. We are happy to discuss available options. VEAP does not assist homeowners with mortgage assistance. For foreclosure prevention counseling, please visit the Minnesota Homeownership Center.
