WHAT: A summer program for students entering 9th – 12th grade in Fall 2023! Students will have the opportunity to volunteer and learn about their community and issues that affect their neighbors.
- 25+ hours of volunteering at VEAP (hours can count toward school community service requirements!)
- Daily informational sessions related to VEAP and the community, covering topics such as non-profit work, poverty, food insecurity, and housing insecurity
WHY: Students will get to learn about and support their community, meet other engaged program participants, and gain valuable skills through hands-on non-profit experience.
WHERE: VEAP, 9600 Aldrich Avenue South, Bloomington MN 55420
WHEN:
o Two weeks: August 1-August 11, 1:30-5:00pm
o Tuesday through Friday at VEAP
o Dates: August 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11
o Capacity: 6 students
Students are playing an important role in our pantry operations as part of this program, and are expected to attend all program sessions. If you know you will be absent for two or more sessions, please consider signing up for a different program session and/or volunteering with us outside of the Future Light program.
